17/28 The Lodge
GV II
Small house at the entrance to the former driveway to Southwick Hall, one of a pair
with No. 23 West Street. Early C19. Stucco walls with joint lines. Hipped slate roof.
Symmetrical south front elevation of two storeys two windows. Sashes in reveals.
The ground-floor windows are set in a curved wall which includes the central
entrance, with a doorway having a plain architrave and cornice, and a 6-panelled
door. Set back at the west side is a high wall (also rendered) with a plain doorway
(to the rear yard): it then follows a curving line, to end as a plain pilaster,
opposite the similar feature of No. 23.
