Description

SU 62 SW WARNFORD WARNFORD PARK
4/3 Gateway
II
Piers and flanking walls. Mid C19. The piers have a wall surface of tiny pebbles,
with quoins formed of squared knapped flints, moulded stone caps and plinth,
crowned with carved stone vases. The lower walls follow curves from the recessed
piers to the roadway and then continue along the roadside: the lower part is of
coarse flintwork and there is a terracotta moulded capping. Piers at intervals,
bear the same form, with stone caps. At the angles (of curves to roadfront)
there are taller rusticated piers, with bands of coarse flintwork alternating with
thinner bands of squared knapped flints.
