869-10/10001 Stable at Hipley Farm
Stable with hayloft above. Late 18th Century. Red brick in Flemish
garden wall bond with hipped clay-tiled roof. 2 storey 3 cell building
with double piled roof. Front has 3 unglazed windows with cambered
architraves and diamond-shaped mullions, 2 doors with cambered
architraves and double hayloft door above. Rear elevation has 2
similar openings with wooden architraves, cambered head linings but
pivot casements. Central spine beam, carried on cross members and
propped off the partition walls. Part to left end bay has 1 inch
chamfer and run out stops. 4 plank door with pintle hinges. The floor
of the central hay loft ends short of the end walls and diagonal bars
are framed at an angle to create mangers for feeding animals.
