GV II
Vault. Mid-C19. Sandstone ashlar. Large square plan. Moulded plinth and
cornice; shallow pyramidal capping with central circular vent; sides have
panelled frieze, blind intersecting semi-circular headed arcading with impost
band continuing around each side and corner columns with acanthus-moulded
capitals now mostly worn away. On a small plaque on the south side is inscribed:
"THE/ FORMER VAULT/ OF/ HUBERT JOHN/ BARCLAY GALTON/ OF/ WARLEY, SALOP/ AND OF/
EWAN CAMERON/ GALTON/ OF/ EYNSHAM, OXON". The damaged chamfered sandstone ashlar
base of a former railed enclosure survives in part. A large monument which
dominates the small churchyard.
