The Granary and cart shelter

(Formerly listed as Granary and cart shelter about 50 yards south-west of Mere Green Farmhouse, DROITWICH ROAD)

GV
II

Granary and cart shelter. Late C18, altered mid-C19. Part timber-framed with brick infill, part brick, half-hipped plain tiled roof. Two bays; two levels. West and east side elevations are open at lower level for cart access; upper level is supported on three circular brick piers with square bases which divide the building laterally; the walls above are timber-framed having mainly one row of panels to the east and two to the west elevation. The gable ends are rebuilt in brick, but the north end retains the upper section of the wall-posts and a truncated collar and tie-beam truss; brick and sandstone steps lead up to a doorway which interrupts the tie-beam, and has a two-light casement above. There is a square opening with a cambered head in the upper level of the south gable end.

Interior not inspected.

The granary forms part of a group including the adjacent shelter shed (qv) and Mere Green Farmhouse (qv).
