Farmhouse. c1600 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Part timber-framed
with brick infill and replacement walling, part brick, plain tiled roofs.
H-plan; central framed bay aligned north/south and having a large external
chimney with four star-shaped ridge stacks forming a lobby entrance; cross-
wings of two framed bays extended to rear by C19 brick bay; the front eleva-
tion of the central part may have been brought forward in line with the cross-
wing gable ends at this time. Two storeys and attic. Framing: front elevation
of gable ends has four rows of close-set vertical studs, the lower row being
mainly replaced with brick; collar and tie-beam trusses have vertical struts
and a king-post above the collar; the side elevations have either two or three
rows of rectangular panels above the girding-beam. West front elevation: case-
ment windows with plank weatherings throughout; gable ends have a 3-light
window on each storey; central bay has a first-floor cross-casement and main
entrance has a 6-panelled door, the upper two panels of which are glazed,
moulded architrave and tiled lean-to canopy of shaped brackets. Interior
not inspected but said to have been altered in C19.
