Dovecote about 150 yards
Dovecote. Early C17. Timber-framed with brick infill on tall brick plinth,
plain tiled roof. Small square plan; single level. Framing three by three
square panels and tie-beam trusses with four struts to north-west elevation
and V-strut to south-east elevation. Small door in lower central panel of
north-west elevation. Roof has gabled lantern with alighting ledges and
entry holes. Interior retains its nesting boxes (approximately 250). The
dovecote is situated on an isolated and elevated site overlooking Pumphouse
Farmhouse (qv) and associated buildings (qv). It is an unusual and important
feature of the local landscape.
