7/64 Rose Place
House. Early C19 with late C19 alterations and additions. Brick faced with
ashlar to front elevation, part-hipped plain tiled roof behind blocking
course at front, and 2 large brick stacks to rear main range. Two storeys
and basement; front elevation has chamfered rustication at ground floor level,
band between storeys, first floor sill, modillion eaves cornice; brick
dentilled eaves cornice to side and rear elevations. 2:1:2 bays; central
one breaks forward; all windows are glazing bar sashes; basement windows are
blind; basement and ground floor windows have voussoirs, the keyblock of
which is dropped; first floor windows have moulded architraves, cornices
and brackets to sill band; central first floor window has a bracketed
pediment, shouldered architrave and balustraded apron; central round headed
doorway, voussoirs, the keyblock of which is blocked, half-glazed door and
barred segmental fanlight; 2 flights of steps with ornate cast iron railings
lead up to the door. Interior: main rooms have moulded cornice, dado and
doorheads on consoles; entrance hall has 2 Ionic columns with flanking antae
at rear, beyond which is a geometrical staircase with wrought iron balustrade
and moulded handrail.
