4/104 Tilehouse Farmhouse
Farmhouse, now house. Late C16, restored mid-C20. Timber-frame much of
which has been renewed, rendered infill, sandstone rubble plinth, plain
tiled roofs, large external dressed sandstone stack with three star-
shaped brick shafts and combined cap to rear right; also brick ridge
stack to left of main roof. T-shaped plan; main range of three framed
bays with single bay rear wing to centre rear; two storeys, attic and
cellar. Framing: three panels from sill to girding-beam and a further
three panels to wall-plate, long straight braces in lower corners, double
collar-and-tie-beam trusses in gable ends, with queen struts and V-struts
in apex. Windows all have plank weatherings and are C20. Front elevation:
ground floor has a 2-light casement in left bay, paired rectangular lights
in right bay, first floor 2-light and 3-light casements, and C20 central
lean-to glazed entrance porch on dressed sandstone base, within which is
a planked and battened door with side light to right. Interior: altered.
The rear wing has a 2-light, chamfered stone mullioned cellar window in
the rear gable end and in the north side elevation.
