3/116 Rose Cottage and
Croft Cottage

House, now divided into two dwellings. Cl7 with mid-C19 and mid-C20
alterations. Timber-framed, painted brick infill, some rendered infill,
brick refacing and replacement walling, plain tiled roof, large external
brick chimney at left gable end. Attic lights in gable ends. Chimney
at left gable end has offsets, dentilled course at shaft base, triple
square shafts, combined cap with cogged course and, above, three new
diagonal short shafts; also rebuilt external brick chimney at gable end
of rear right wing with cogged course at top of shaft and additional short
diagonal shaft. Two framed bays; single storey and attic with dormers.
Framing: three square panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces
in lower corners, collar-and-tie-beam trusses in gable ends with queen
struts and V-strut in apex. Front elevation: ground floor has two 3-light
casements with cambered heads, two gabled dormers with 2-light casements
and two ledged and battened doors with cambered heads and gabled canopies
on shaped brackets. Interior not inspected. A single storey wash house
wing adjoins front left side of chimney and rear of chimney is an outshut
with rectangular light. A C19 rear wing adjoins to rear right, single
storey and attic with dormers.
