1/151 Pardoe's Farmhouse

Farmhouse, now house. c1620 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-
framed, painted brick and rendered wattle-and-daub infill, brick replace-
ment walling, sandstone rubble base, plain tiled roof, brick stack at left
end of main ridge and external brick chimney with offsets to right side
elevation. Hall and cross-wing plan, both of two framed bays; two storeys
and cellar. Framing: four panels from sill to wall-plate in hall part and
mainly three panels in cross-wing side elevation and four at gable ends,
long swept braces in lower corners of hall part, short straight braces in
upper corners of cross-wing, collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts
in gable ends, truss at left gable end has a king post with angle struts
above collar. Front elevation: 2:1 bays, main part has a ground floor 3-
light casement and on first floor a 3- and a 2-light casement; cross-wing
gable end has 3-light casement on both floors; main entrance at rear in
angle of cross-wing. Interior: roof has single row of trenched purlins and
intermediate collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts; cross-beamed
ceilings in ground floor of main part and rear cross-wing; large sandstone
chimney in left bay of main part. A single storey C19 kitchen wing adjoins
the left gable end.
