House. Early C17 with mid-C20 alterations and additions. Timber-framed,
rendered infill, some brick replacement walling, left gable end partly
rendered, high sandstone rubble plinth, plain tiled roof, external sand-
stone chimney at left gable end with paired diagonal brick stacks and
also brick stack to froht right of ridge. Three framed bays; single storey,
attic with dormers and cellar. Framing: irregular, two panels from sill to
wall-plate, short straight braces in upper corners and collar-and-tie-beam
trusses in gable ends. Front elevation: windows are all C20; two 3-light
and two 2-light casements on ground floor, two gabled dormers with 2-light
casements; small central door into cellar; main entrance at rear centre
with C20 plank and battened door. Interior: intermediate collar-and-tie-
beam trusses and single row of trenched purlins, one of which has been
replaced; main beams are stop-chamfered; winder staircase retained in
central bay; single storey addition built onto left gable end to enclose
external chimney which has back-to-back inglenook fireplaces and bread
oven; C20 wing added to front of this addition; also hipped roofed single
storey extension at right gable end.
