SP 05 NW INKBERROW CP THORN

5/144 Thorn Dene Farmhouse

GV II


Farmhouse. Late C16 with mid-C19 alterations. Timber-frame, partially
rendered, with painted brick and rendered infill, later extension of brick,
tile roof. L-plan, timber wing of two framed bays extending to west, other
range to south is C19. West (rear) elevation: gabled timber-framed wing to
left, to right catslide of outshut to rear of C19 range; gabled wing of
two storeys lit by two 2-light casements, entrance in east front. Framing:
close-studded, as is west gable truss which has two collars and curved raking
struts in the apex. There are remnants of a moat around the house.
