SP 05 SW ROUS LENCH CP RADFORD ROAD (west side)

8/163 Checkett's Farmhouse


GV II

Farmhouse. C16 with mid-C19 and C20 alterations. Timber-frame, mostly
clad in rendered brick, on sandstone plinth, tile roof. T-plan, main
range the stem extending to the north with east/west cross-wing. Main
range of three framed bays with large chimney stack at junction with cross-
wing. East front: one storey with attic, lit by casement in gable of cross-
wing to left and two gabled dormers in main range to right; ground floor:
cross-wing has an angled bay window with hipped tile roof; porch at junction
to main range has a C20 studded door; two 2-light casements to left of main
range, to right a small C20 gabled wing, with adjoining porch. Framing:
north gable: two large rectangular panels high with curved angle braces;
truss has two raking struts to collar.
