House. Late C18, altered mid-C19 and in c1908 by Ernest Newton for Richard
Biddulph Martin; further alterations of mid-C20. Coursed limestone rubble
and slate roof with gable-end parapets and ridge end ashlar stacks with
moulded cappings. Two storeys and attic with dormers. Three bays; outer
bays have canted bay windows to the two main storeys which have central
12-pane sashes and 8-pane side sashes. There is a 12-pane sash on the first
floor of the central bay. Above the outer bays is a hipped-roofed dormer,
each having a 3-light leaded casement and probably added by Newton. The
central entrance has a flat canopy on shaped brackets and a 6-panelled door,
two panels of which are raised and fielded and two are glazed. There is a 2-
light ground floor casement in the north gable end facing the main road. The
rear west elevation was altered in the mid-C20.
