Farmhouse, now house and attached stable. Mid-C18 remodelling of early
C17 building with mid-C20 alterations. Brick with hipped plain tiled
roof, large external chimney with offsets at west side and also small
stack at east side. Two storeys, cellar and attic with dentilled eaves
cornice. Three bays; central bay breaks forward slightly and is pedimented.
Window openings have been altered and 3-light C20 casements have been
inserted; blind lunette in pediment; central entrance has a C20 gabled
brick porch with cambered archway, rectangular side lights and C20 door
within. Interior: some internal timber-framed walls; winder staircase
in central bay; large fireplace in ground floor room to west. Stable
adjoins east side elevation; timber-framed with brick infill, brick and
rubble plinth, brick replacement walling and corrugated asbestos roof;
two framed bays; two levels; north elevation has three rows of panels
from sill to wall-plate, swept brace in right lower corner of left bay;
collar and tie-beam truss with three struts to collar and V-strut in
apex at east gable end; ledged and battened door to right of north
elevation. The house and stable occupy a prominent and elevated. situation
south of the churchyard of the Church of St Bartholomew (qv).
