5/37 Mill Cottage

House. C17 with mid-C20 alterations and additions. Timber-framed with
rendered infill, rubble base, brick replacement walling, some rubble
walling and asbestos-tiled roof. Two framed bays aligned east/west; large
rubble chimney at east end of ridge, also external brick chimney at west
gable end. Single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: three panels
from sill to wall-plate (only upper row retained at front); collar and
tie-beam truss with two struts to collar and V-struts in apex at east
gable end. South front elevation: two ground floor 2-light casements,
two gabled dormers with 2-light casements; central gabled brick porch
and C20 door. Interior not inspected. A C20 extension of two bays adjoins
the west gable end and there is a lean-to addition at the rear. A convex
bulge in the east gable end wall is probably a former bread oven.
