House. Early C19 with late C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Stuccoed brick,
partly-hipped slate roof and large stuccoed chimney stacks. U-plan. Part
two storeys and cellar, part three storeys. East front elevation: three
bays, outer bays project as full-height canted bay windows; ground floor
windows are 15-pane sashes, first floor windows are 12-pane sashes; between
the bay windows is a Doric distyle portico in antis above which is a similarly
detailed loggia with ornate cast iron balustrade; the central entrance has
moulded jambs surmounted by urns on pedestals, a pair of outer and inner
half-glazed doors, panelled reveals and a large traceried fanlight. Interior:
noted as having moulded ceiling cornices and door architraves to main ground
floor rooms; central hall has an open well staircase to rear with turned
balusters and wreathed handrail. South side elevation has a late C19 lean-to
verandah of five bays with arch-braced chamfered posts; the two west bays are
glazed to form a conservatory. The south wing has been extended and has an
adjoining west wing which encloses a small rear courtyard. Within this court-
yard at the rear centre of the main entrance is a square bell-tower with a
large open-sided timber lantern, pyramidal slate roof and weathervane.
