Farmhouse. Early C17 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-framed
with rendered infill on sandstone rubble plinth, brick replacement walling
and refacing and partly hipped plain tiled roof. L-plan; main part of
three framed bays aligned east/west; wing of two framed bays adjoins north
side of easternmost bay and has external rubble chimney with brick stack to
west side. Two storeys and cellar. Framing: three panels from girding-beam
to wall-plate in main part; three panels above and below girding-beam in north
wing with long straight braces across lower corners; short straight upper
corner braces throughout; collar and tie-beam truss at north gable end with
five struts to lower collar and two to upper collar. Irregular fenestration.
South entrance elevation: 3-light casement on both floors; C19 gabled canopy
on brackets and half-glazed door; C19 external brick stack to right. Interior
not inspected. The farmhouse belongs to the Shakenhurst Estate.
