SO 47 SW ADFORTON CP -

6/4 Church Cottage


GV II


Cottage. Probably C17. Sandstone rubble plinth. Timber-frame with
lath-and-plaster infill. Asbestos slate roof. External sandstone end
stack with brick shaft. Two structural bays aligned west-south-west/
east-north-east. One storey and attic. North elevation has one window,
a 2-light mid-C20 steel casement. Ground floor has two square windows.
C17 doorway to right-hand side with slightly cambered head and ledged door.
West gable has external bread oven adjoining stack. Entry in glazed porch
to south. Interior has flat oak four-centred lintel to fireplace which
also has ovolo moulded stone jambs. Ceiling beams have chamfers with
lamb's tongue stops.
