Farmhouse and adjoining granary. Circa 1600 with late C17, mid-C18, mid-C19
and mid-C20 alterations. Part sandstone rubble, part timber-framed with
painted brick and rendered infill. on rubble base: Slate roofs and large
rubble ridge stack with brick shaft to main range. T-plan; main range of
roughly three bays aligned north/south; with large central chimney and
through-passage to north side of chimney:. Large cross-wing added at south
end, (probably C18). Part two storeys, part single storey and attic with
dormer and part three storeys. Framing: three panels from sill to wall-plate;
no trusses visible. West front elevation: main range has a ground floor 3-
light casement with a cambered brick head, a first floor 3-light casement
and a raking-top dormer also with a 3-light casement. Entrance to left of
central stack has a lean-to canopy on straight brackets and a door of four
flush panels. Cross-wing is of substantial proportions and windows have
wedge lintels; the gable end has a tripartite ground floor sash window with
a central four-pane sash, a first floor 3-light C20 casement, a second floor
tripartite plain sash and moulded bargeboards. There is a brick stack on the
south side of the roof. In the angle with the main range is a large lean-to
addition: It has a 3-light C20 casement with a wedge lintel and the main
entrance which has a lean-to canopy on metal brackets and a door of three
flush panels in its west side: There is a tall brick stack on its north
aide: The granary wing adjoins the north end of the main range and runs
west; C17, and built of sandstone rubble with a slate roof, two bays, two
levels. There are external sandstone steps leading up to a ledged and battened
door on its south side. Old purlin ends visible at west gable end. (RCHM
