5/33 Moor Farmhouse
Farmhouse, now house. Probably early C17 with early C18 alterations
and additions and further mid-C20 alterations. Part roughcast sandstone
rubble, part timber-framed-with rendered infill on sandstone base, painted
brick replacement walling and refacing; plain tiled roofs. T-plan; main
range of three bays aligned north/south with west wing adjoining to south
of centre and large rubble chimney at junction with two brick shafts. A
C18 timber-framed cross-wing of roughly four bays adjoins the south end
which has an external rubble chimney at its west end. Two storeys.
Framing: C18 wing has three rows of square panels from sill to wall-plate
and a collar and tie-beam truss at rear with a V-strut in the apex.
East front elevation: main range of three bays and windows are all 2-light
C20 casements. Main entrance to left of centre has a C20 gabled timber
porch and door. C18 wing has two 2-light C20 casements at ground floor
and attic levels in its east gable end. There is a lean-to addition at
the north end of the main range. Interior: recorded to retain an early
C17 staircase with turned balusters, square newels and a heavy square
handrail. The west wing to recorded to have some moulded ceiling beams
and an early C18 fireplace with a moulded surround. (RCHM Herefs II, p 16,
