SO 55 SW
5/81 Lowbrook
GV II
House. C17, with mid-C19 and late C20 alterations. Part painted sand-
stone rubble, part timber-framed with roughcast infill and machine-tiled
roof. Three framed bays aligned north-east/south-west; large external
rubble chimney with brick stack to north-west elevation and at north-east
end. Two storeys. Framing: three rows of square panels at first floor
level; tie-beam trusses with two main struts and lower raking struts at
gable ends (roof structure probably altered in C19). South-east front
elevation: plank weatherings to all horizontal timbers and first floor
windows. Windows are all 2-light C19 casements. Central entrance has a
C19 gabled timber porch with trellis infill, a C20 door and a transom
light with two glazing bars. A brick and rubble wing adjoins the left side.
This is part of an original outbuilding converted in the late C20 to form
part of the house. Two bays. Single storey and attic. There is a 2-light
and a single-light C20 casement and two doors in the front elevation.
