Stocks Tree Cottage

Cottage. Probably late C17 or early C18 with later alterations. Sandstone
rubble plinth and timber-frame with plaster infill. Tiled roof with large
sandstone side stack incorporating baking oven. Rectangular two-bay plan
aligned roughly east/west extended in C20 by one bay to east. Two storeys
and attics. South elevation has one window, 2-light early C20 casement to
right of centre. Ground floor has three contemporary casements. Gabled
porch to left. Weathering at first floor level is tile-clad. Attic window
to left gable above lean-to extension. Frame is three square panels high
from cill to wall-plate. Interior access refused. Trusses said to be un-
mutilated. Included for group value. (RCHM, Vol III, p 88).
