adjacent platform

GV II

Railway station and station house, now house. Circa 1863. Brick with
tiled roof and brick stacks. Irregular plan aligned roughly north-west/
south-east. Two storeys. South-west elevation has two round-headed
glazing bar sashes to left in front of which is a loggia with three round
arches and imposts. Behind arches are more sashes and entry. To the
right of the loggia is an advanced two-storey block with 2-light sash
under cambered head to ground floor, blind first floor opening, two plat
bands and mono-pitched roof with panelled stack. Platform to front is
ramped to either side and rock-faced in coursed sandstone. Interior
inaccessible at time of re-survey (February 1987).
