13/19 Church Cottage

GV II

Shown on OS as Church House.
House. C14, extensively rebuilt early C19 with some late C20 additions.
Timber-frame clad in coursed rubble partially roughcast under a tile roof.
Four framed bays aligned east/west with internal gable-end stack to west.
North front: two storeys high with four 2-light casements. -Ground floor has
two 3-light casements flanking the -central entrance with half-glazed tiled
porch. Single storey C20 extension to left forms a garage. Interior has one
exposed cruck truss, with arch-braced collar. Above the collar are two cusped
raking struts, forming two trefoils and a quatrefoil. Evidently this truss
was in the centre of an open hall. Very little other framing is exposed, but
there is probably more concealed by plaster.
