House. Probably C14, extended C17, with some C18 alterations and mid-C20
restoration. Timber-frame with brick and rendered infill, partially clad
in brick. L-plan, C17 cross-wing extending to north, C14 cruck hall range
to east. Large external rubble stack with brick shaft on south gable of
cross-wing, also a rubble stack inserted in the centre of the hall.
South front of two storeys with gabled cross-wing to left, to right raised
in C18, but lower to extreme right. 1 + 2 windows, a 2-light and a 3-light
casement, with to right a 3-light window with diamond plan wooden mullions.
Ground floor has two 2-light casements flanking a 3-light casement under
a segmental head. Entrance in west front of cross-wing. Framing of cross-
wing is four square panels high with three struts to collar and V-struts
in apex of the south gable truss. Cruck truss visible in east gable. Interior
not inspected, but reported to contain a further cruck truss and a possible
remnant of a spere truss. (RCHM, 3, p 41, no 23).
