6/95 West Lodge of Garnstone

Lodge. c1806 probably by John Nash, extended late C19. Coursed rubble with
a slate roof. Square plan, entrance to north, extended to south. Main stack
on south wall of original block has a rendered shaft. West front of two storeys
with a plain parapet over a moulded cornice. Pilaster buttresses to corners.
A window of two four-centred lights to each floor, each under a square head
with a square label. Entrance on north front has a single-storey porch with
plain parapet. The outer arch is four-centred and is continuously chamfered.
The side walls each contain a blind lancet. Garnstone, the main house, was
demolished in 1959. (Reid, P, 1980, Burke's and Savills Guide to Country Houses,
