House and stables. C16 refronted and extended late C18 with some mid-C19
alterations. Timber-frame with rendered infill on a coursed rubble plinth
clad in painted brick under a slate roof, extended in coursed rubble and
brick with slate roof. L-plan, house extending to south, stables to the east.
West front of two storeys with attic lit by two gabled dormers. Three windows,
all glazing bar sashes under segmental heads. Ground floor has a similar window
to left and a C19 shop front to right with central glazed door under an over-
light. The shop front has wooden pilasters and scroll brackets to the moulded
cornice. The central entrance has a pilastered wooden doorcase with an open
pediment, overlight and six-panel door. The rear range of stables has coach
house towards east end with a seven-bay arcade on cast iron columns. Framing
of front range visible in the north gable is two square panels high to each
floor with curved angle braces. It was formerly jettied to the front. The
truss above has three struts to the collar. (RCHM, 3, p 200, no 28).
