6/33 The Whitehouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Mid-C17, extended late C17 to early C18 with some mid-C20
repairs. Timber-frame with rendered infill and tile roof. Four framed
bays aligned north/south, the north bay lower but contemporary with the
two central bays, south bay added. Main stack at south end of original
building has a brick shaft. West front of two storeys, save to left of
one storey, has a 2-light casement to the left and a 3-light casement to
right of centre. Ground floor has three windows, two 3-light casements
flank one of two lights. Entrance to right has a C19 slated and gabled
canopy with a C20 door opening into a lobby against the stack. Framing:
four square panels high with straight angle braces. (RCHM, 3, p 86, no 70).
