House, now two houses. Early C18, raised and extended early C19, with
some late C20 alterations. Brick with hipped slate roof. L-plan, with
limbs extending to north and east. South front of two storeys, raised to
right in C19 to three storeys, band to ground floor. Seven windows, from
left to right, a 2-light casement, a blind window, the same pair repeated,
then recessed boxed glazing bar sash and another blind window, all of which
have rubbed brick heads and their surrounds are picked out in a different
coloured brick to the main wall. To right-hand end a two-storey canted bay
window with a hipped lead roof and a 2-light casement to front. The second
storey has boarded eaves and two glazing bar sashes. Ground floor has a C20
single-storey extension to left, and a small single-storey service range to
right. The five windows are a 4-light casement under a narrower rubbed
brick head, a blind window, a 2-light casement, a tripartite sash under a
segmental head and a blind window. To the right of the last is the entrance
which has a wooden doorcase with fluted pilasters, consoles to broken pedi-
ment over semi-elliptical fanlight and a six-panel door. Interior: the
staircase has turned balusters and moulded rail. (RCHM, 3, p 83, no 12).
