SO 4967 ORLETON CP CHURCH LANE (north side)

10/88 Well Cottages (Nos 1 & 2)

GV II

House. Early C17, partly clad early C19, with some mid-C20 alterations.
Timber-frame with rendered infill almost entirely clad in brick with a
slate roof. Three framed bays aligned east/west. South front of two
storeys with two windows, 2-light C20 casements. Ground floor has two 2-
light casements under cambered brick heads flanking an entrance with wooden
architrave and ledged and boarded door. Second entrance to right has a lean-
to slated canopy, a 3-pane overlight and a ledged and boarded door. Framing
exposed to east gable end, formerly jettied with chamfered bressummer; two
square panels high to first floor with straight angle braces. Gable truss
has three struts to collar with king-post above and trenched purlins.
