6/146 Tudor House


House. C17, refaced in brick early C18 and late C18, restored 1930's.
Timber-frame with rendered infill clad in brick, on a coursed rubble
plinth, all under a tile roof. L-plan, limbs to west and south. Main
stack placed laterally on west wall of south wing. East front of two
storeys, jettied and gabled cross-wing to right, brick of two phases to
left, the earlier part with diaper work in blue headers and band. Three
plus one windows, two 2-light casements to left, 3-light casements to
right. Similar arrangement on ground floor, the three to the left under
segmental heads. Entrance to centre of brick portion has a C20 ledged.
and boarded door. Framing of cross-wing is close-studded with mid-rail
on ground floor with chamfered bressummer to jetty. First floor is two
square panels high with herringbone framing forming lozenges. The tie-
beam is slightly jettied with diagonal framing above forming lozenges.
Side wall, five square panels high. Rear entrance has C17 boarded door
with applied mouldings. Interior has exposed chamfered and stopped ceil-
ing beams. The brick wing has framing within it.
