6/153 Church House

Farmhouse. C17, with some mid-C18 alterations, restored 1980's. Timber-
frame with painted brick and rendered infill on a coursed rubble plinth.
under a roof of tile, slate and corrugated iron. L-plan, cross-wing to
south, other range to east. Gable-end external chimney stack of rubble
to east, and a stack placed axially in centre of cross-wing. The latter
has a brick shaft of six-point star plan. North front: of two storeys
with gable-lit attic to cross-wing on right. Two plus one windows, all
casements of two, four and three lights. Ground floor has a 3-light case-
ment to left with a plank weathering, and to right a C17 mullioned and
transomed window of five lights, with diamond section mullions. Entrance
to right of centre has a C20 gabled and slated canopy with a ledged and
boarded door. Framing: four square panels high with straight angle braces.
The gable-end truss has three struts to the collar with two vertical struts
above. Interior has exposed chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. (RCHM,3,
