- II*

Farmhouse. C15, with additions and alterations of C17, further mid-C19
and C20 alterations. Part timber-framed and part sandstone rubble,
completely rendered, tiled roofs. Three-bay C15 hall aligned north-east/
south-west with central stack; through-passage toward south-west end, C17
cross-wing added to south-west, further additions to south-east and north-
east. Single storey and attic to hall range, two storeys and attic to
cross-wing with jettied upper floors. North-west front: three projecting
gables each with one 2-light casement window to hall range. One 3-light
casement window to ground floor to left of doorway with six-panelled door
having two upper panels glazed. Cross-wing to right with 2-light casement
in upper floor and a pair of similar windows to the ground floor. The jetty
is largely obscured by the rendering but appears to be supported on plain
curved brackets. Interior reveals two largely complete cruck trusses toward
the centre of the former hall range. The main room has a good inserted
cearly C17 steeply chamfered cross-beamed ceiling, and large open fireplace
with plain chamfered surround. (RCHM, Vol 3, p 95).
