Country house, now sub-divided into apartments. C17 core, completely
remodelled in 1879; C20 alterations. Brick with ashlar dressings and
sandstone rubble plinth, square panelled timber-framing survives in part
to interior, the brick to the west side of the house is in English bond
and probably dates from the C17; tiled roof. L-plan with projecting porch
to south front, axial and end stacks. Three storeys, attics and cellars.
South front assymmetrical with 2:1:2:1 bays, 2-light stone mullioned
windows with cross-mullioned windows to ground floor flank projecting
gabled three-storey porch with two string courses and rusticated quoins.
Decorative polychrome brickwork in gable, and above decorative 3-light
Tudor arc..ed window of three trefoil-headed lights and piercedspandrels,
square-headed 3-light mullioned window to first floor, Tudor arched surround
to outer doorway with two-centred arched head, ledged double doors with
decorative strap hinges. Gable end of cross-wing projects to right with
rusticated quoins, string course and polychrome brickwork, circular window
in gable with sexfoil, 4-light cross-mullioned window to first floor, similar
window to ground floor with decorative tracery. Interior is largely altered
but retains some dado panelling in a room on the first floor at the west side
of the building.
