Market hall. Early C16, but altered at an unknown later date when an
upper storey was removed. Timber-framed with hipped stone slate roof.
Open single-storey rectangular structure with eight posts, four to each
side; posts chamfered with traces of moulded caps, and curved brackets
above to support wall-plate. The north-east angle post stands on the
stone base of a medieval cross. (RCHM, Vol- III, p 163; BoE, p 268).
