Hall-house, now divided into two tenements. C14 with late C16 or early C17
inserted floor, extensively altered during late C19 and C20. Timber-framed
core refaced with brick on sandstone rubble plinth; Welsh slate roof. Hall
of six bays with later stacks added to east and west gable ends; entrances
to south front. Two storeys. Swan House to left with two 9-pane C20 glazing
barn sash windows on first floor; 12-pane glazing bar sash windows flank 5-
panelled door with plain overlight. School View to right with three small
2-light casement windows on first floor and two 2-light casement windows to
left of ledged door with lean-to porch below. Interior of Swan House
reveals moulded main posts of earlier core with moulded and embattled wall-
plate. Five trusses with moulded tie-beams formerly arch-braced (these
have been cut), moulded collars and cusped struts, two tiers of moulded
purlins and two tiers of cusped wind-bracing. Smoke blackened trusses.
The inserted cross-beamed ceiling has steeply chamfered beams. Open fire-
place with chamfered surround.
