The Rucketts

Farmhouse, now house. Probably C17 and C18 with earlier origins and later
alterations. Sandstone rubble plinth and timber-frame with brick and plaster
infill, partly roughcast. Sandstone and Welsh slate roofs, partly half-
hipped, with external roughcast stacks and off-ridge stack. T-plan with cross-
wing at west end. Cross-wing has two bays; main range perhaps four bays.
Main range has one storey and attic; cross-wing has cellar, two storeys and
attic. South elevation has 1:2 windows, 8-pane late C19 window to gable front
to left and two gabled dormers with 2-light casements to main range. Gable
has half-hipped roof, large external stack to left and glazed C20 door above
deep cellar and plinth to right at top of stairs. Main range has four irregularly
placed C19 casements and ledged door to left-hand side set in roughcast.
Rear elevation of main range has exposed framing, three square panels high from
cill to wall-plate. Cross-wing has four panels between deep plinth and wall-
plate with late C20 elements to gable frame. Interior of cross-wing has ceiling
beams with lamb's tongue run-out chamfer stops. (RCHM, Vol III, p 187).
