5/10 Barn about 20 yards
north of Lane Farmhouse
GV II
Barn. Circa 1400, altered C17 and late C20. Timber-framed on rubble base
with weatherboarding and corrugated metal cladding, some breeze block walling
and stone-tiled and corrugated metal roof. Three framed bays aligned roughly
north/south; central wagon bay with opposed cart entries, blocked on east side
and with C20 metal door on west side. Interior: partly cruck-framed. Two full
cruck trusses with collars flank wagon bay. North end has an upper cruck.
Probable former south end cruck has been replaced by C17 or later framing.
Roof has two tiers of purlins. (RCHM, III, p24, item 13).
