Outbuilding, probably a detached kitchen. Early C18 with mid-C19 alterations.
Part handmade brick with some blue brick dressings, part timber-framed with
rendered infill and with stone-tiled roof laid in diminishing courses. L-plan
having two-bay range aligned north/south with two-bay wing to north-east.
Single storey and attic. Framing not visible externally. Main east elevation
has large ledged and battened door. North-east wing has an original mullioned
and transomed window and a doorway with a moulded frame and shaped inner head.
Attic light in south gable end. Two additional original windows on ground
floor of west elevation. There is a C19 lean-to outshut adjoining the south
side of the north-east wing. Interior: cross-frames have three rows of square
panels from sill to wall-plate and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts.
Stop-chamfered main ceiling beams. Large chimney at junction of ranges with
bread oven etc. (RCHM, III, p 54, item 21).
