5/95 St Mary's Farmhouse
GV II
Farmhouse. C17, altered C18, late C19 and late C20. Part timber-framed
with some painted brick infill on rubble base, largely rendered and part
painted rubble with machine tiled roofs and brick stack at north-east end
of main ridge. Two framed bays aligned north-east/south-west with external
rubble chimney and brick stack at south-west end and single-bay wing adjoin-
ing to rear south-east. Two storeys. Framing: only visible externally on
wing which has two rows of square panels at first floor level and tie-beam
trusses with struts. North-west front elevation: two ground and first floor
3-light casements (with transoms and plank weatherings on ground floor).
Central entrance has a gabled timber porch on a brick base and a glazed
C20 door. Continuous lean-to outshut with catslide roof at rear. Interior:
some framing exposed, chamfered main ceiling beams and large fireplace in
north-east bay. (RCHM, III, p 56, item 55).
