Barn. Probably C14, extended in C17 with further mid-C19 alterations.
Timber-framed and weatherboarded on rubble base with some rubble walling
with stone-tiled roofs laid in diminishing courses. Original part is cruck-
framed and of two bays aligned east/west. In the C17 an addition of 4½ framed
bays was added to the north-east which has a wagon bay with opposed cart entries
and double doors in the fourth bay from the north end. An additional bay has
also been added at the west end of the original part. Attic openings in gable
ends. There is a lean-to outshut on the west side of the C17 part. Interior:
original part retains three full cruck trusses, has two rows of panels from
sill to wall-plate and there are two tiers of trenched purlins. The C17
addition has three panels from sill to wall-plate, a collar and tie-beam truss
with struts and a V-strut above the collar at the north end, two similar inter-
mediate trusses with two struts and two intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking
struts. There are two tiers of purlins It is possible that the cruck-framed
part of the barn was the original farmhouse.
