Farmhouse. C16, with mid-C19 and mid-C10 alterations and additions.
Timber-framed with rendered infill, brick replacement walling and
refacing and some rubble walling with brick dressings; plain tiled
roofs and brick stacks. Three framed bays aligned east/west; central
bay mainly occupied by large chimney forming a lobby entrance. Single
storey, cellar and attic with dormers. Framing: west end has one row
of panels at eaves level and collar and tie-beam truss with four struts
to lower collar, two struts to upper collar and swept V-strut at apex.
South front elevation: there are two 2-light C20 casements and a C19
four-pane sash window, all with cambered heads on the ground floor, three
raking-top C20 dormers with 2-light casements and a central entrance with
a C20 flat-roofed brick porch and half-glazed door. Large rubble wing to
north-east. Interior: room on ground floor to west has two moulded ceiling
beams with run-out stop_chamfers; room to east has chamfered ceiling beams
dividing the ceiling into small compartments. Large back-to-back fireplaces;
the eastern one retains its C19 range.
