TENBURY CP BROMYARD ROAD (west side)
SO 66 NW
Farmhouse. Circa 1600, remodelled mid-C18 with mid-C19 and mid-C20
alterations. Brick with some timber-framing and brick infill; slate roofs
and gable-end parapets with kneelers. Brick end stacks and also brick stack
at rear. Two storeys and attic with dentilled eaves cornice. Three plus one
bays; the single-bay part is probably a later addition and of greater width.
Windows on main storeys are all 4-pane C19 sashes with basket-arched heads.
There is a gabled dormer between bays 2 and 3, which has a 12-pane sash with
a semi-circular head. Beneath the dormer is the main entrance which has a
six-panelled door with a transom light. Between bays 3 and 4 are two blocked
doorways. Partly timber-framed wing to rear left. It has four panels from
sill to wall-plate and a collar and tie-beam truss with five struts below
the collar and a V-strut above. There is a lean-to outshut to the remaining
rear elevation of the main range. Interior: C18. Oak dogleg staircase with
moulded hand rail and turned balusters in entrance hall. Kitchen to the east
said to contain some circa 1650 panelling. Also room in oldest part recorded
to have moulded oak ceiling beams dividing the space into square panels.
