Two houses with pair of shops and shop. C18, altered early to mid-C19 and
mid-C20. Brick with plain tiled roofs and brick ridge stack. Two storeys
and attic with dormers; dentilled eaves cornice. Three plus two bays.
Nos 5 and 7 have three first floor 4-pane sashes with cambered heads and
three gabled dormers with 2-light casements. The ground floor is occupied
by a pair of shop fronts with a continuous cornice and plain pilasters.
Both have C20 windows and four-panelled doors with transom lights. There is
a large external chimney and a lean-to outshut with a catslide roof at the
rear. No 9 has two first first 4-pane sashes with cambered heads and a
simply detailed C19 shop front on the ground floor which has large 2-light
windows flanking a glazed C20 door. There is a flat-roofed dormer with a
2-light casement at the rear. The entire rear elevation of Nos 5, 7 and 9
dates probably from the early C18 and has some sandstone rubble and hand-
made brick walling.
