Description

TENBURY CP MARKET SQUARE (south side)
SO 5868 - 5968
8/118 Workshop about 3 yards
east of Nos 16 and 17

GV II

Probably former stables or byre, now workshop. C17, altered late C19 and
mid-C20. Timber-framed with brick infill on rubble base, brick replacement
walling with weatherboarded gable ends and plain tiled roof. Three framed
bays aligned east/west. Single storey. Framing: three panels from sill to
wall-plate, short straight upper corner braces, end trusses not visible
externally. Main south elevation: there is a 2-light and a 3-light window,
a blocked opening with a cambered head and a doorway with a ledged and
battened door and a transom light with four glazing bars. A C20 yellow
brick lean-to outshut with a corrugated iron roof adjoins the north side.
Interior: an interior inspection was not possible at the time of survey
(May 1987). Included for group value and also because of its survival as
as an agricultural building type within an urban environment.
