Public house. C17, refronted in probably early C19 with further late C19
and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-framed with brick infill, faced in stucco with
plain tiled roof behind parapet and rear brick stack. Three framed bays aligned
north/south. Two storeys. Framing: some visible at south end including part of
collar and tie-beam truss. West front elevation: there are two two-storey canted
bay windows with 4-pane sashes (the left one is smaller and has narrow plain side
sashes). The right bay has a first floor 4-pane sash. Two entrances flank left
bay window and have flat canopies on shaped brackets; one has a four-panelled
door, the other a six-panelled door. Large inserted archway with timber lintel
at right end. Interior: much of framing intact. (VCH, IV, p 362).
