A C17 dwelling with later refronting and extension to the rear. Now a commercial premises with accommodation above.
MATERIALS: The principal facade is red brick with stone detailing. The side elevation is rendered and the extensions to the rear are of rough stone. It has a slate roof and brick chimney stack.
PLAN: The building is two bays and is orientated parallel with Cruxwell Street, roughly east-west.
EXTERIOR: The road-side elevation is a symmetrical arrangement. At ground floor level is a shop front with large, four-light windows either side of a central, recessed front door, with a glazed, two-light return. The plinth is brick and there is a modern fascia. There are two windows to each of the upper storeys; those at second floor are smaller, all have projecting stone cills and flat-arched brick lintels. There is a dentiled cornice below the eaves, continuing from No. 1 Cruxwell Street.

HISTORY: Bromyard is a small market town that was first recorded in circa 840. No. 3 Cruxwell Street is situated on one of the principal thoroughfares in the town, which runs east from the vicarage and church. It was known as Corkeswalle Vicus in the late C13 and recorded as Croxewalle Streate in 1575. To the west, where it meets Old Road, it was and was known as Sheep Street in the early C20. This central area of the town to the south of the church and around the market place appears to have been fully built up by the early C17, though some of the plots have been re-developed since that time.
No. 3 Cruxwell Street dates from the C17. It has a C18 refronting, a C19 shop front and C20 alterations to the fascia and windows.

* Architectural interest: a well-proportioned and pleasant facade retaining its historic layout
* Early date: the building has origins in the C17 and was refronted in the C18
* Group value: No. 1 Cruxwell Street and the building adjacent, No. 3 Cruxwell Street have strong group value and share stylistic features
