Farmhouse. C15 with C16 cross-wing, C17 rebuilding, C20 extensive repairs
and alterations. Part timber-frame with brick infill, part brick, tiled
roof. 4 bay cruck hall house, 2 lower bays of which survive, having central
hearth with rubble base and bread oven, and with cross-passage to lower bay;
2 bay cross-wing at south end added in C16, rebuilt in C20, has large
external stack to east gable; 2 original upper bays of hall house rebuilt
in C17 and 2 bay wing added to east elevation of 2 original lower bays.
Partly 2 storey and partly single storey and attic with dormers. Irregular
fenestration; casement windows throughout, gabled dormers to main range'and
lower wing. West elevation has first floor, window and C19 panelled door to
upper bay of main range. East elevation has plain timber door to C17 part
and upper cruck bay and 2 plain timber doors with cambered heads to south
elevation of lower wing; cross-wing external stack has 3 octagonal shafts
with a combined cap. Interior: 2 rebuilt upper bays of original hall
house have C17 floor, C17 decoratively carved timber fireplace and C17
staircase with turned balusters and moulded treads. Cross-wing has north
wall-frame and 2 roof trusses reconstructed as original.
